How to Install Plastic Water Pipes?

As a very important step, if the water pipes are not installed properly, future water usage problems may arise. However, many people don't know how to install water pipes. Below, Yuyao Jiacheng Tools & Trade Co., Ltd. will share some practical water pipe installation steps that you will surely find interesting.
Water Pipe Installation Step One: Material Inspection and Preparation
Many people have heard that water and electrical system renovations require high-quality materials, and this is true! Because water and electrical systems are concealed projects, they are covered by the floor after construction. If problems arise later, repairs become very difficult. Therefore, the quality of the materials is extremely important.
Before installing the water pipes, check whether the inner and outer walls of the pipes are smooth, whether the cuts are even, and whether there are any cracks or peeling.

Water Pipe Installation Step Two: On-site Briefing
After carefully reading the drawings, the installation personnel should confirm the locations where water pipes need to be installed, including sinks, water heaters, washbasins, and other equipment. They should also carry out the construction according to the requirements of the designer or the homeowner.

Water Pipe Installation Step Three: Cutting the Water Pipes
First, determine the required lengths of water pipes for each section to save time during subsequent installation. Measure the pipe lengths and then cut them. It's important to use a specialized pipe cutter for this process. Adjust the cutter's jaws to match the pipe diameter. Apply even pressure during cutting, ensuring a smooth, burr-free cut. If burrs are present, further sanding or filing is necessary.
Water Pipe Installation Step Four: Water Pipe Connection
Water pipes and fittings are connected using a heat fusion method. Heat fusion connections are reliable and easy to install. Before connecting, ensure that the pipes and fittings are free of dust and other debris. The heat fusion depth of the pipes and fittings must meet the requirements, and avoid rotating the pipes during heat fusion welding. When connecting threaded fittings, wrap them with Teflon tape to ensure a good seal.

Water Pipe Installation Steps: Step Five - Fixing the Water Pipes
Water pipes need to be fixed using pipe clamps to ensure that the pipes do not vibrate due to water pressure. The spacing between pipe clamps should be between 400-500mm. For pipes with an outer diameter of less than 25mm, pipe clamps should be installed at corners, near the water meter, and within 100mm of the pipe ends. If the water pipes are laid underground (in a pipe trench), the mortar backfill thickness should be greater than 100mm.

Water Pipe Installation Steps: Step Six - Pressure Testing
Water pipe pressure testing is to verify the quality of the water pipes. Use a pressure pump to pressurize the pipes to above 0.6 MPa, and the pressure test time should be greater than 30 minutes.

Water Pipe Installation Precautions:
1. When using hot-melt connection for water pipes, if an operation error occurs, correction is possible immediately after connection. However, after the cooling time has passed, forced correction is strictly prohibited.
2. After hot-melt connection, the newly connected joint must not be subjected to external force.
3. When using PP-R pipes with metal threads, the white Teflon tape must be sealed tightly to prevent water leakage from the threads. Also, avoid overtightening to prevent pipe fittings from cracking.
4. Professional pipe clamps must be used; do not use nails or hooks as substitutes to avoid damaging the water pipes.
5. Water pipes should be installed horizontally and vertically. Avoid pulling or twisting the pipes forcefully, as this affects both aesthetics and the installation of the mixer tap.
6. The distance between hot and cold water pipes should not be less than 150mm. Hot and cold water pipes should not pass through the same hole; the height of the hot and cold water pipe outlets should be consistent and 20mm higher than the wall surface.
The above is a complete introduction to water pipe installation, including detailed installation steps and precautions. As an important part of concealed engineering, it is crucial to pay attention to construction specifications and material selection during renovation. Do not use cheap, low-quality pipes and fittings. Water pipe cutting and welding should be smooth to avoid problems in the future.
